Back-To-School

For the last 2 years, ever since my kids started schooling, I have been going to this one-stop center at OU to buy all back-to-school stuff, from school uniforms and shoes to stationeries. This year however, is different. Why? Not only the utilities rates, tolls and fuel have increased, even new workbooks have been added in the booklist and the prices of school stuff has escalated. Yes, I feel the pinch and that has forced me to make a multiple-stop when buying the school items.

Nevertheless, in years to come, prices will continue to rise. Here are some of the tips in today's NST on how to cope with the rising cost of living.

* Think of ways to cut down on spending, such as reducing recreational activities.
* Start saving and don't buy at the last minute.
* Survey all options before deciding on an item.
* Be objective and rational when spending on children. Do not give in to demands because you feel guilty for not spending time with them, and yet do not be tight-fisted.
* When you buy branded goods for your child, aks yourself if you are spending more than you need.
* Let your child understand the value of money and instil in them the spirit of conservation.
* Start investing in education trust funds.

Dad & his game

Last two-week, my kids and I went to "Karnival Keluarga Bahagia" organised by Kelab Warga Emas, where my dad was one of the committee members for this event. I did not participate in any part of the event, nevertheless I gave support by watching my dad in his lawn bowling competition. His team won 3rd place. Congrats Ayah!!

Trip to JB

The journey to JB last Thursday took us about 4 hours with 1 stop at Pagoh. We left SA around 9pm and reached JB in the wee hour. Since my in-laws are already there staying in one of the hotel in Larkin area, we wanted to suprise them. Trying to be an adventurous family kononnya.. we decided to find our own way to the hotel but the journey took us another 1 hour to reach there. I guess u all know why la kan!.. After 4 petrol stations asking for directions, we managed to reach the long lost destination. Tu la baru dinamakan adventurous yang sememangnyer membazirkan waktu dan petrol. Dinasihatkan jangan meniru adegan tersebut.

After breakfast on Friday, we went for lunch in JB town. JB town has changed since my last trip more than 5 years ago (I think.. lama tu..) Later in the afternoon, we all went to Danga Bay for some ice-cream. Around 9pm, my brother- and mother- in law went into Singapore to fetch hubby's grandma (nenek), who stayed with us in JB for couple of days. I went back to Danga Bay later that night with my family to enjoy the night view. It was beautiful.

The next day after breakfast, again we went to Danga Bay together with nenek and took a short trip by train ride to Festive shopping mall. Late afternoon, my bro-in law sent hubby's cousin back to Singapore and fetched another cousin into JB.

Last day in JB (Sunday), nenek was sent back to Singapore. We went to Plaza Angsana for lunch. Adam and Adli lost their way when they went to the toilet, which freaked me out for awhile. After that, we went again to Danga Bay for tea time before leaving JB. 3 hari kat JB, tiap-tiap hari pergi Danga Bay. Ada apa dengan Danga Bay? Food! Nice food! Good food!

We left JB to PD at 6pm and reached PD around 10pm, Heavy rain along the journey, we cant see the road at night. Scary giler tu. Stayed 1 night in PD before heading home in the morning since hubby had to go work.

What a trip la..!
