8am on 4 June. It was drizzly, cool and breezy weather when we started our journey to Kulim. A no rush-relaxing journey took us about 7 hours to reach there. We passed through many kampungs and enjoyed the sceneries, feeling traditional pulak. I even counted there were about 12 weddings along the way. Ramai betul orang kawin.. kawin sebelah kampung kot. Few days before the trip, Adli was not well, so along the way, he vomited few times. Kesian dia - mabuk jalan jauh.
Almost noon time, we entered Perak border and decided to stop at Lumut to refresh ourselves. Manjung has become a brand new town to me since the last time I was there, studying in ITM back in 1994. Lumut has changed too, with a new Waterfront opening soon. Impressive I must say. Reached Kulim around 3 pm.
5 June, took on a ferry ride off to Penang. The kids were so excited, they told me they saw 8 jellyfishes. Checked into The Northam. My brother took his family for one night stay at the hotel too. After that, all of us went out looking for nice food. The food is heaven there, just like Lanie said. Char kuay teow, sotong rojak, kerang rebus, banana pancake with ice-cream - this one is at Teluk Bahang, laksa penang, rojak buah etc etc... I ate all. We also went round the island - Balik Pulau. The route was up and down the hill, just like going up to Cameron Highlands and lots of durian trees along the way. And also browsed at Gurney Plaza too.
On 6 June after breakfast, we went up Bukit Bendera. Since it was school holidays, crowd was expected lah. The train was slow but steady and a little scary to me.. Nothing much when we reached the top. Makan je apa lagi. Spent couple of hours, took some pictures before heading back down the hill. Feeling very tired, we went straight back to the hotel. After dinner at the coffee house, we went for a walk along the Gurney road, which is not far from the hotel. We wanted to walk to Gurney Plaza but after 15 minutes walking with no sign of it, then we realised it is far further up. The kids dah complained penat so end up at the convenience shop for some drinks and tidbits je.
We checked out on 7 June. Did some quick shopping in Penang before heading back to my brother's house in Kulim. Next day (8 June), we entered Penang again with my brother's family to Batu Feringgi - mandi laut lah apa lagi.. The kids are so tanned now including me.. Ok, here goes my embarrasing story happened to me at the beach. After showered, ready to put on my t-shirt, I realised my bra was missing. I swear I did bring it along with me. Ni mesti kes tercicir ni. So, I put on my t-shirt, covered myself with the towel, jalan along the beach, and then I saw something striking, in lime green color, which happened to be my bra. Alamak.. dah lah depan tu ada group of people. Dengan muka selambanyer, I picked it up and jalan straight tak tengok kiri kanan.. Maluss nyer.. After mandi manda at the beach, we went to night market along the Feringgi road, where ramai foreigners buying souvenirs, in which I pun sibuk membeli for myself..
On 9 June at 6pm, we headed back to Shah Alam. Singgah kat Ipoh to send my brother at Ipoh bus station. Dinner at Tapah. Reached home at 12midnite. What a trip! Well.. as long as the kids are happy and enjoyed their holidays, that's all matters..
