Flood and Food

For the past few weeks, Klang Valley has been hit with heavy rain which started late afternoon (almost everyday) and lasted till midnight, sometimes till the next morning. Last evening was a little worse as Shah Alam was hit with flood, I think at Giant Hypermarket area in Sect.13. I didnt know it till I was told by my sister, Tini, who took Glenmarie route to go to Shah Alam from Sunway. At the time she called on my cellphone, I was actually caught in this unusual queue at Batu 3 toll. Hmm.. thats answered my wonder. Usually, I took Glenmarie route to go home after work but my instinct said I should take the toll route. At least it was not as bad as being in the traffic at Glenmarie area.

Tini came with her hubby, AJ (real name is Emi Wazir) and her cute daughters, Adib and Iman for buka puasa in Shah Alam (she stays with her in-laws in Kajang). When the weather tends to be cold, we tend to feel hungry more than usual (feeling cold and hungry blend together.. I guess). So, after much thinking, we decided to indulge ourselves with this generous portion of Briyani Bukhara Ayam from Syed Restaurant in Sect 3. To those who have not experience this Briyani Bukhara, why not rush to any Syed Restaurant in town and try this delightful taste with its spices. You'll never be dissappointed. Till then.. enjoy your food.

Quotes on Friendship

Today, I managed to find Zura's blog. She's my schoolmate since we were like 9 or 10 years old. (or probably earlier or later than that.. hmm) Zura, I hope you dont mind me adding you in my amusement list. She loves to bake and made really nice cakes and cookies. Anyone interested ordering her bakes, dont forget to mention my name okay. (just hoping that she'll give me some free yummies from her ovens..)

Talking about cakes, my boss' wife, Madam Lillian called me yesterday asking when I'm gonna start my raya holiday as she's gonna bake her famous Prune Cake for me. She baked last year for my raya and she's gonna bake again this year. Yoo hoo....

As I was browsing the web (and searching for Zura's blog), I found a really nice quotes on friendship. Personally, friendship could last forever. I treasure my friendship with my friends and I value them significantly. My fav quotes : Life is nothing without friendship..

Other quotes on Friendships:
"Good friends are hard to find, harder to leave, and impossible to forget."
"Good friends are like stars....You don't always see them, but you know they are always there."

"Nur Ramadhan" Berbuka Puasa

Persatuan Taska Negeri Selangor organised a "Majlis Nur Ramadhan" (Berbuka puasa) bersama anak-anak yatim dan Mawi AF3 at Quality Hotel, Shah Alam at 5.30pm today. Adli and his pre-school friends were selected to perform a group dance. He was so excited to this day that he woke up very early as early as 7 am. Dia dok tanya "Mama.. bila nak pergi hotel ni?" Dah banyak kali I bagitau dia pukul 5 petang. Punya lah tak sabar budak ni... haiee.. nak jumpa Mawi lah katakan..

After I sent him at 5.30pm and my son Adam and I went to Restoran Sempoi kat Bukit Jelutong for buka puasa, together with my brother, Nizam and his wife, Wanie. Me and Adam had tomyam mushroom and telur dadar with rice. Yup.. Yup.. Tomyam has always been my fav food. In fact, all masam2 food is my favourites. As usual, my hubby keje sampai malam so we hardly buka sesama. hmmm.. no complain. My bro had this nasi goreng daging merah and his wife had fish n chip. What I like most at this Sempoi is their Ice Lemon Tea.. macam ice blended lak.. sedap sangat..

We lepak till 830pm, then I went to fetch Adli at
Quality Hotel before going home. Good Nite!

Breaking Fast in Subang

My mandarin oral test went okay. The test was actually scheduled on 23 Oct - this Sunday but since there will be many of them from other programs too, laoshi decided to ask if those who can make on 19 Oct - Wednesday to do it. So I called my coursemate, who is also good friend, Shareenaz, to join me on Wednesday. At first, I was not confident to do it early but since I have other plan on Sunday, might as well just finish it off. Well, it was quite an easy one. I managed to answer most of them tapi itu pun teragak-agak macam kereta rosak. Agaknya tension je laoshi menunggu I menjawab. Tapi ada lah pulak satu word ni yang I betul-betul lupa this mandarin word.. paobu (berjoging). Tension.. tension...

Yesterday, we all buka puasa kat my mother-in-law's house in Subang. My hubby, Shah and Adli went there earlier with his brother, Nazri. I went with Adam after I finished the test. The test was supposed to be at 6.30pm but laoshi came a little late coz of the traffic especially when it's raining. Yup, yesterday was raining quite heavily. So I finished almost 7pm. Luckily I brought some water and kurma for Adam and me to buka puasa before reaching Subang. But Adam doesnt like the kurma. On the way to Subang, he fell asleep. Kesian.. dia penat. I'm actually very proud with him coz he can really puasa whole day despite of his tight school schedule from morning 7.30am to Sekolah agama till evening 5pm for his Sekolah Kebangsaan. I dont expect that from a 7 years old boy. Kekadang tu bila dia balik sekolah.. "Mama, Adam letihlah... Adam nak minum..." tapi kena lah I motivate dia sikit. "Tinggal 2 jam je lagi Adam.. Sabar ye sayang..." So far dia tinggal puasa 2 hari je. Hmm.. terror gak Adam ni. Tapi I kena make sure dia bangun sahur. Ada gak time bila kejut sahur, dia tak nak bangun tapi still can puasa whole day. Caya lah Adam. Adli pun ok gak. Sahur bangun. Adalah few days je yang dia puasa penuh. Mostly, puasa half day je. Boleh lah tu.. Well done my sons...

Buka puasa kat my mother-in-law's house ni lain sikit from buka puasa at my home. Normally, we all buka puasa with nasi and lauk but in Subang, the tradition is no nasi and lauk but noodles, kuih-muih, murtabak, ayam goreng and apa2 lah as long as bukan nasi. Best jugak sekali sekala tu tukar menu.. Duduk sana tengok DVD lah.. layan my nieces and nephews lah.. Kekadang tu mengantuk gak. We stayed there till 10pm... On the way balik, me and my kids tido while Shah bawak sorang2.. kesian dia.. hehe..

Mandarin Oral Test

I'll be having my Mandarin oral test tomorrow at 6.30pm. Here I am trying to memorise those Mandarin words and sentences. Ni hao ma? Wo hen hao. We were asked to bring our family photo and introduce them to laoshi. So I've prepared my script for that. Luckily, she's not gonna ask any questions. Kalau tak, I tak tau lah apa nak jawab. Wo bu chitau je lah kot. But after the introduction, laoshi will be asking us some calendar questions.. like Jintian xingqiji? (What day is today?). Jintian xingqi'er. (Today is Tuesday.) Dui?. Hopeful I can remember those words and answer them. Don't panic Ina.

Talking about panic ni, I remembered one time I was in a real panic situation during my
MUET (Malaysian University English Test) couple of years ago. I did'nt realise that I had only 15 minutes left to finish my essay and I was like only half a page. All along I thought I had another 1/2 hour to go. Suddenly, panic was all over me.. I felt really cold.. I couldnt even write properly.. Gosh! Then, I told myself "Ina, calm down..." So I put down my pen, I inhale.. exhale real slow. I picked up my pen and I write as fast as I could..like the LRT train. Nak kata FI car, tak logiklah pulak. Laju sangat tu. Though I managed to finish it but I was not satisfied at all. Sigh!! Well, time is precious.. so always keep in mind the time frame. And always calm down in any situation...

Bakso

Last Saturday, my dad's niece, Rina (I don't really know her and most of my dad's relatives as they live up north and I seldom go there), who is studying at PTPL in Shah Alam (Pusat Teknologi & Pengurusan Lanjutan) came with her bunch of friends (7 of them) for buka puasa. My dad request me to cook Bakso (originally from Indonesia, a noodle soup with meatballs) for them. I learned to cook Bakso from my mother-in-law, who is very knowledgeable in cooking. So I gave my dad a list of what need to buy as he has so much time to shop them at Giant Hypermarket.

So my Saturday starts as early as 9am, after I sent my hubby to commuter station. He commute everyday to work. I did some cleaning around the house and started cooking around 11am. Around 2pm, I freshen up a little and took a nap. I started arranging the table and preparing the garnishing around 4pm. My sister, Tini came with her two adorable daughters (Putri NurAdib Jasmine and Putri NurIman Cempaka) and my brother, Nizam (it was his birthday too) came with his 3-month pregnant wife, Wanie.
It was a tiring day for me but a good and enjoyable buka puasa with everyone complimented my cooking (at least..haha).

What a Relief!

Ok.. I'm done with all my school assignments. Though my classes have just ended 2 weeks ago but this one project paper for Understanding Psychology subject is yet to be submitted. Due date is on 23 Oct 2005. I'm waiting for the rest of my team to review it before I could put it out of my mind. Final exams is coming soon, which I was told it is scheduled to start just a couple of days after raya. There goes my excitement for raya but no worries. I'll be prepared for the battle.

Now I can nose around my friends blog after few days been skipping doing that. My friend, Leilanie posted this interesting 5 minutes brainless quiz. So I give it a try.... and here's my result...

Thoughtful and loving. Authority figures probably have been sheltering you all of your life. Thankfully you're a very tranquil person who is content with what life has given you, but secretly you want to know how the outside world works.

Which Disney Princess Are You?

Hmm.... I guess I kinda agree with the remark.....

Adli's Preschool Graduation

Kids Campus.. that's Adli's preschool he attended since he was 4-year old. Today is his preschool graduation day. The graduation was held at Dewan Auditorium, Parcel D, Putrajaya, together with 8 other preschools around Selangor area. It started at 830am till 3pm but we didnt stay till the end. We went home after he's done with his graduation ceremony.

We reached Putrajaya at 8am, walked into the Auditorium.. still not many parents there so we get to choose front sit near the stage so that we could see Adli perform. Yup.. he and his friends performed a dance with the beat of Waheeda's song, Wassini. There were 20 performances from 20 preschools in Selangor, which registered under Persatuan Taska Negeri Selangor. Adli's group was the 3rd to perform so it was good. They looked so cute..

Around 12noon, we started feeling hungry so we went to this dewan makan where they sell food. As we were walking to this-quite-a-distance dewan makan, we could see a serene parks with beautiful landscapes surround the building. Wow, this is the kind of places I could actually sit for hours and just appreciate them.

Here are some of them..

Let's go there again.....
